The Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Zacch Adedeji has appealed to Nigerians to be patient, saying President Bola Tinubu’s government is just taking off and would land soon.
Adedeji made this appeal in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.
He said, “We understand that it is normal that when we are in this time, it is like when a plane is taking off. We are just taking off. This is a taking off time for us and we would soon balance when we would ask everybody to lose their belts and continue.
“This is just taking off,” he maintained. “You should be truthful and would have seen that we really know what we are doing. We have plans.
“We understand the enormity of the pains of Nigerians. We are working day and night, led by Mr President, to make sure that citizens actually feel the impact of good governance,” he added.
The FIRS boss, however, maintained that the new government won’t overtax the citizens.
Recall that the Tinubu government was inaugurated in May last year.
However, the government is still grappling with insecurity, a battered economy compounded by inflation, and the removal of fuel subsidy among other issues.
But Adedeji asked Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu’s government in its quest to better the lives of citizens.
