Comr. Lebi Ijisemi, Ondo State Coordinator of the Youth Alliance for Good Governance, has vehemently condemned the empowerment program held by Hon. Donald Ojogo, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, an event held at the Naval Operation Base, Igbokoda on 14th June 2024. The event, which was supposed to be a gesture of goodwill and development, turned out to be a sham, perpetuating the vicious cycle of partisanship and discrimination.
The empowerment program, ostensibly designed to benefit the people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, was instead hijacked to serve the interests of a select few. The event was exclusively reserved for supporters of Chief Olusola Oke, Hon. Ojogo’s preferred aspirant in the recent gubernatorial primary election. This blatant display of partisanship is a clear violation of the principles of good governance, fairness, and equity.
The Youth Alliance for Good Governance is appalled by Hon. Ojogo’s brazen disregard for the welfare of his constituents. By catering only to his political allies, he has demonstrated a callous disregard for the needs and concerns of the larger population. This empowerment program is a stark reminder of the pervasive culture of exclusivity and discrimination that pervades our political landscape.
Comr. Ijisemi lamented, “The distributed items were woefully inadequate, falling far short of the expectations of the constituents. This lackluster effort only serves to further entrench the perception that Hon. Ojogo is out of touch with the needs and concerns of the people. It is unacceptable that our elected officials continue to prioritize political expediency over the welfare of the people.”
The Youth Alliance for Good Governance demands that Hon. Ojogo takes immediate steps to address this imbalance because we all worked for the success of his election in unity as party members regardless of political affiliations. And therefore request acknowledgment and apology for this egregious lapse in judgement and ensure transparency and accountability in future initiative.
We urge the people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency to join us in demanding better representation and governance. We deserve inclusivity, fairness, and accountability from our elected officials.
