The lawmaker representing Ifedore State Constituency at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Temitope Komolafe has distance himself from the endorsement move by the speaker of the House, Rt.Hon. Olamide Oladiji.
It would be recalled that the speaker who led some members of the state house of assembly to the declaration ceremony of Governor Ayedatiwa in a bid to run for the November 16 governorship race in the state declared that 26 lawmakers have endorsed Ayedatiwa to become the candidate of the party.
This has further created another crisis to the House as other members of the House called for the vote of no confidence on the Speaker.
But in a swift reaction, Hon. Komolafe from Ifedore Constituency in a press release made avaialble to 9jacitynews faulted the endorsement by the speaker.
“I, Barr. Komolafe Temitope, representing Ifedore State Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, stands before you to address pressing issues affecting our legislative body and the state at large.
“Firstly, it is imperative to clarify that recent endorsements purportedly made by the speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Oladiji Landmark Olamide on behalf of members of the Ondo State House of Assembly are deemed unacceptable, disrespectful and unauthorized.
“The recent turmoil within the State House of Assembly stems primarily from internal disagreements, particularly concerning the leadership of the Speaker. It is crucial to emphasize that these issues are confined to matters within the legislative body and do not reflect any dissatisfaction with Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa’s leadership.
“Regrettably, the Speaker’s conduct in managing sensitive matters has been called into question, leading to a vote of no confidence passed by myself and other legislators. His actions, including unfounded allegations of misconduct and misappropriation of public funds against the Governor which led to a failed impeachment, have exacerbated tensions and jeopardized the stability of our state.
“In light of recent events, it is incumbent upon the Speaker to issue a public apology to the people of Ondo State and to Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa for any misinformation or misinterpretation propagated during the failed impeachment.
“Furthermore, endorsements made without proper authorization, especially by an individual like Rt Hon Oladiji Landmark Olamide facing internal criticism, hold no validity and should be disregarded.
The lawmaker advised the speaker to prioritize transparent house leadership and desist from acting autocratically.
“However, the Speaker should stop behaving like Idi-Amin Dada of Ugandan, he should prioritize accountability, transparency, and adherence to due process in the State House of Assembly.
“In conclusion, I reiterate that the majority of issues within the State House of Assembly revolve around internal dynamics and leadership concerns, distinct from the good governance provided by Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa. As such, all endorsements made without proper mandate are null and void, Komolafe added.
