According to Chief Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba Land, President Tinubu only needs 12 of the 48 ministries in this administration in order to function effectively. In contrast, he contended that under the American Presidential System of government, the Presidency oversees fewer than fifteen ministries. He promoted decentralisation, arguing that many of the tasks currently carried out by the federal government should be handled by states or regions. He bemoaned that the local population does not reap the rewards of a people-centered government, voicing concerns about the gap between the top down and the bottom up. He also emphasised the difficulties faced by chairmen of local governments, pointing out that they have less autonomy as a result of governors removing funding. He claims that this concentration of power has a negative impact on local government, making it the most disadvantaged level of the three levels of government.
In an interview with The Sun, he declared, “The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water Resources are not necessary for the Presidency to function.” The ministry of power is not even necessary for the presidency. Tinubu only needs 12 of the roughly 48 ministries that exist today to carry out his mandate. The Presidential System of government in the United States is administered by the Presidency, which oversees 15 ministries, not the entire size of the country. The states or regions should be in charge of the majority of these tasks.
He added, “So, the benefit of a people-centered government has been lost by the grassroots. The local government’s employees do not perceive any benefits from the government. Since the governors have taken away their allocations, the majority of local government chairmen may not even report to work for up to ten days per month. Within those ten days, they visit the office and spend a maximum of two to three hours there. The local government is the least fortunate of the three levels of government; either directly or indirectly, the governors are ruining it.”
