While the government of Imo State is busy trying to fight against land grabbers and racketeers of properties under the Shared Prosperity Administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, people who are negatively involved in the alleged fraudulent activities in one way or the other have resolved to attempting to bribe government officials as a way out.
On Wednesday, Jan.31st 2024, in Owerri, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Magnusen Hotel Owerri (located around Area “R” New-Owerri) of the state whose name was simply given as Mr. Ifeanyi Mezuma, visited the office of the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Land Recovery, Hon.Prince Paschal Nwakamma (Dumdum), with the sum one million naira which was expressively rejected by the SA.
On acknowledging the seriousness of the matter of the Hotel Owner who coming into his office with money in cash, the SA immediately invited the police and the CEO of Magnusen Hotel was arrested with his exhibit.
As at the press time, the hotel owner is chilling at the State CID Imo State Police Command Owerri.
Meanwhile, speaking to newsmen, Nwakamma expressed dissatisfaction concerning the parading of money by the hotel owner whom he described as a land grabber due to his encroachment into government property for his own interest.
According to Nwakamma, “He blocked an access road which is clearly against the policy of the government and I have told him several times to remove that structure and ensure that the blocked road is opened but he kept deaf ears.
“He obviously trespassed into government land and resulted into coming to bribe me with money. The suspect came to bribe me, I refused his cash of one million.
“It is clear that no amount of money can be used to bribe me because I have come to deliver on the mandate of Governor Uzodimma in his recovery bid.
“Note that all documents with him are fake. His actions has landed him into the He has been handover to the police.
“My advise to the people of Imo State is that nobody should come to my office with money for bribing. Obey the instruction and there will be peace but if you don’t, you are looking for war,” Dumdum maintained.
